The Hydraulic Red is one of those heads you pick when you want your snare to sound fat, punchy, and immediately controlled. Two plies of 7-mil film sandwich a thin layer of oil that kills sustain and pushes the low end forward, giving you that thick, slamming crack made famous by early-’70s rock recordings. The red coating looks striking under stage lights, too.
