Blending vintage charm with modern enhancements, we believe we’ve nailed it with the 1970 Chicago Special Jazzmaster. This guitar features a classic 7.25 radius and a rift-sawn maple neck for a smooth, familiar feel. But the real magic lies beneath the surface. At its heart is a 250k volume pot paired with our custom Chicago Special pickups, inspired by a legendary 1961 Jazzmaster set. With input from George Blanda, we fine-tuned the pickups to deliver a unique tonal balance. The bridge pickup is slightly overwound for a smooth, rounded presence, while the neck pickup is moderately overwound, producing a massive low end and rich, rounded highs. Both pickups are crafted with Alnico 5 magnets, wound with 42-gauge enamel wire, and potted in shellac, resulting in a wide, open dynamic range that captures every nuance of your playing. Includes a professional set up by our in-house luthiers.
