This is an intensive 10 Day (85 Hour) GUITAR BUILDINGcourse run over 2 weeks, Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm. This is our standard 2-week course with10 extra hours.
We offer various lengthLuthiery Coursesbecause we all have different dream guitars to bring into reality. Each course is geared to building a variety of different instruments of unique complexity and inspiration.
This courseallows any student to build a more complex guitar or bass than the 5 or 6 Day courses allow, with features rivaling those of the highest-spec guitars and basses out there. Students on this course should draw inspiration from guitars such as carved top PRS, Gibson Les Paul, and even Double bound Thinline Telecasters.
With the addition of ourPLUS option,you can choose to spend your extra 10 hours on anything from more complex wiring to custom inlay and almost anything in between.
Alternatively, a student may choose to build a more traditional instrument but delve into each process along the way in greater depth.
Typical guitars built on this course include:

A StandardFortnight on the 10-day course:
- Day One Neck Angle and route neck, slot, and glue on fretboard.
- Day Two Carve neck and route body.
- Day Three Radius fretboard and start inlay. Install frets.
- Day Four Fretwork and sand body shape.
- DayFive Neck pocket and route cavities.
- DaySix-Make backplates and remaining cavities.
- DaySeven-Carve top.
- DayEight– Finish carve and fine sanding.
- DayNine-Stain and/or spray. Cut nut and wiring.
- DayTen Assembly. Set-up. Play!
These courses are designed to be more bespoke for each student and often dont conform to a standard itinerary.
Our experienced Team will guide you every step and you will learn the myriad of skills that go into building a guitar. By the end of your time at Crimson you will leave with not just a finished instrument, but all the knowledge needed to continue your journey into the art of lutherie.
This 10 Day Course entails8.5 hourswith coffee/tea and lunch breaks. Your day will begin at 9 am and end at 6 pm. You are welcome to come in 15 minutes before the day starts, but we cannot let students into the workshop before 8:45 due to health and safety reasons.

While there are local shops and pubs within a10-minutedrive of Crimson Guitars, we recommend our students bring a packed lunch.
