While we’ve had these nifty all-mahogany Guild models in the past, we’ve never had an example this clean and original. They were designed to compete with Martin’s 0-15, and this M-20 sounds every bit as good, with a smooth bass response and impressive volume that in a blindfold test would make you question if you were listening to such a small guitar. Yours truly bought a new Guild F-20 made a couple of years after this, but I doubt the glossy spruce-top version sounded this good. And this M-20 lacks the plastic headstock overlay of higher models, which sometimes shrink and come loose. Instead you get a nice laminated veneer headstock with classy silk-screen logo. And who doesn’t love the early “ghost with bow-tie” paper label? It has its original frets, tuners, bridge, pickguard, and satin-lacquer finish. No cracks, no signs of any repairs. One of the nicest time-machine Guilds Gryphon has offered, ever. These are often called “Nick Drake” models, as the ill-fated singer-songwriter was pictured with one in a photo shoot, but he most likely never recorded with one. Includes a vintage chipboard case.
