Here we have a wonderful Martin 000-18 vintage acoustic guitar from 1940!
This guitar features a mahogany body, mahogany neck, spruce top, and ebony fretboard. The bridge is a competent ebony replacement. The tuners are original. The body is crack-free, as is the neck. The fretboard extension shows faint woodgrain cracks between the frets, but they appear stable.
The neck has been set and there is an area on the bass-side heel with a small amount of finish touch up. The treble side of the heel, the rest of the neck, and the body all appear to be original finish without any overspray or touch ups. There is some discoloration on the top behind the bridge, as well as a band of discoloration on the back. It appears the guitar was stored in the case with something around it like a leather strap that interacted withthe finish over time.
This one has a wonderful tone. It is big and open with a warm low-mid band and clear treble. It has incredible sustain, nice mahogany overtones, and a touch of natural reverb emanating from the body. It weighs 3lbs 10oz. The neck measures .850 to 1.005 at the 1st and 10th frets. It has a 1 11/16″ nut width and a soft V profile with a shoulder that fills out in the higher register.
Ships in a modern Cedar Creek hardshell case. There is no end pin included.
