While the Fender Buddy Guy Stratocaster is a well-known model that we’ve all seen (and instantly recognizable, of course), you haven’t seen one like this exact one!
This instrument is from the personal collection of the late Brad Pie who played guitar in the 1990s with the great Johnny Otis. Along with Johnnys sons – Shuggie Otis (Guitar) and Nicky Otis (Drums) – Brad contributed guitar to the 1992 Grammy-Nominated Spirits of the Black Territory Bands by the Johnny Otis & His Orchestra group. Many of the instruments from Brads collection are uniquely modified and come with various customized accessories. This particular instrument comes with the following:
The guitar has been upgraded with locking tuners, plus a super cool blue pickguard and backplate, custom knobs, and a bullet switch tip. A nice tweed case is included. Inside of it you’ll find a perfectly matching polka dot strap, black guitar cable, and a clip-on tuner.
- Polka-dot finish
- Soft “V”-shaped neck profile
- 9.5″-radius maple fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets
- Standard single-coil Stratocaster pickups with five-way switching
- Vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge
The guitar was built in 2006, which was Fender’s 60th Anniversary, so it has a special emblem commemorating that on the back of the headstock. It’s in great shape and has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. A Buddy Guy Strat is a great find in general and this is the only one out there that looks like this!
