With the help of legendary drummer Steve Gadd, Yamaha introduces the Recording Custom Metal Snare Drum Series. Utilizing Steve’s input to its maximum, Yamaha has crafted three new snare drum shells available in 7 unique models. The Recording Custom Aluminum snares are focused with the warmth of wood and a buttery rimshot. The Recording Custom Stainless Steel snares project effortlessly with a darker tone than regular steel and a cutting rimshot. The Recording Custom Brass snares have a full sound with rich mid-range.

After repeated evaluations of the design by Steve Gadd, Yamaha has created a groundbreaking snare drum. To date, Yamahas snare drums have traditionally had the metal center bead on the interior of the drum. However, now the center bead is fixed to the outside of the drum producing a more open sound than conventional drums, for crisp, articulate performance.
The heavy-duty Q-type strainer is robust whilst offering solid, stable and smooth operation, along with adjustment and snare replacement.
20 strand snare wire equipped, and Steve Gadd signature 10 strand snare wire bundled (14×5.5). The drum includes the snare wire that Steve prefers to use. This is a 14 strand snare wire with the middle four strands removed. This special snare wire enhances the cutoff of the sound, enabling the artist to produce a crisper staccato tone.
