In the late 1970s, Gibson sought ways to make guitars more accessible without sacrificing playing pleasure, and The Paul was the result. The guitar was developed by Whitey Morrison, then managerof the Nashville factory.

With its striking all-walnut construction and no-nonsense look, this guitar stands out from the usual Les Paul models, making it particularly appealing to guitarists looking for something different.

The Paul was produced between 1978 and 1982 as an affordable alternative within the Gibson family. Instead of the classic mahogany-maple combination, Gibson opted for a walnut body and neck, which not only gives the guitar a unique look but also a distinctive sound with a clear, focused character. The guitar feels more like a Telecaster than a traditional Les Paul!

The two T-Top humbuckers, the same pickups used in more expensive Gibson models during that period, deliver a full and versatile tone that’s at home in a variety of musical styles. The guitar also features its original CTS potentiometers from 1978. It has also been refretted, and the nut has been raised. Furthermore, there are playwear marks on the body and neckthe hallmarks of a beloved guitar!

The guitar comes in a gig bag with a TFOA passport.
