About the luthier
Youri Soroka is a dedicated luthier working from his workshop in Orlat, central France. Originally trained as a computer engineer, he ultimately found his path in the art of lutherie. For Soroka, the craft represents a continuous search for perfect sound, superb playability, and elegant visual harmony; ideals he brings into every instrument he builds. Over the years, he has focused on developing double-top guitars that preserve a traditional tonal aesthetic while pushing the boundaries of modern responsiveness.
About the guitar
This instrument, bearing serial number 75 and completed in 2025, is Youri Sorokas most recent evolution of his double-top model. It features an all-wood composite soundboard: Italian spruce on the exterior and Western Red Cedar beneath, supported by a traditional 7-fan bracing system. This innovative construction maintains a natural acoustic response while achieving exceptional volume and sensitivity. The Indian rosewood back and sides exhibit striking, naturally patterned grain brought out by the warm-tinted French polish, which also imparts a golden hue to the spruce top.
Tonally, this guitar stands out for its dark, rounded character and smooth, unforced voice. The basses are notably deep and resonant thanks to the low air-body frequency (around D/E), while the trebles remain clear and well-separated; a key quality that ensures definition even in large concert halls. The response is fast yet never brittle, and the overall voice retains the essence of a traditional classical guitar, despite its modern build. A slightly elevated fingerboard enhances comfort and protects the top from nail contact. With a redesigned rosette, plantilla, and headstock crown, this model embodies both innovation and tradition.
