Sonic Evaluation
This Johnny A. Strat was so good me made me go “JOHNNY AAAAAAAAYYY” in the Fonz voice because I was so excited. It resides squarely in Cluck’n’Quack, Texas, with a truly impressive vocal chirp that inspired me so much I made a poor decision and tried to play Little Wing (it did not go well). That vocal quality makes you feel almost as if you’re singing with your hands, which makes for a delightfully expressive playing experience. The bridge pickup is bright but without any attendant harshness, with a lovely jangle and a focused midrange bite. The middle pickup is fatter than some neck pickups, with warm lows, strong low mids, and glassy, sweet highs. The neck pickup is positively thunderous, with a rib-rattling low-end, broad, sonorous midrange, and fat, clear trebles. All pickups maintain excellent clarity, and they have a vintage-style sag and squish to them before the note blooms into full resonance. If you’re looking for an iconic-sounding Strat, check this Johnny A out–it’ll probably make you yell like the Fonz, too!
Condition Report
Other than a small check in the neck pocket, this Johnny A. Strat looks practically brand-new with hardly any signs of use and zero playwear. It comes with its original hardshell case and all its case candy, too!
